WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?

I am from Florence and after many years living abroad, I moved back to Tuscany. During my artistic career I have exhibited in various galleries in Italy, in the United States and in United Kingdom.

During my painting studies at the Academy, I discovered and became strongly passionate about photography, moving from the casual fascination of Lomographic film to the search for sharpness and detail through digital. Film studies are still the basis for much of my drawing and painting work.

I still identify painting as my best form of expression, where I often range from informal to abstract and try to make it coexist with other techniques and materials.

WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

At the beginning of my artistic career, I was inspired by Marlene Dumas and Jenny Seville. Later, when I moved to the United States, I began to study less figurative art movements, taking inspiration from artists such as Robert Rauschenberg and Cy Twombly.

Although I have always focused on two major themes, looking at my works from a chronological perspective, it is easy to identify a pre- and post-abstract period.

WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?

For me, re-appropriation of one’s natural rhythms is important. In my life, I am always looking for a balance between the world of work, which is always faster, more modern and technological, and the natural and more peaceful state of things when I finally enclose myself and paint or create. Finding yourself and staying in touch with yourself is a priority in order to feel good.
