WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?
I’m Samantha Lamonaca, born in Milan but with deep roots in southern Italy. I’ve been passionate about knowledge, art and creativity since I was a child; after a troubled path in studying I found my dimension in fashion and in everything that characterizes it at 360 degrees. Today I work as a freelance stylist and consultant for large companies in the industry, but also for private individuals and small emerging designers. In 2017 I felt the need to create and express myself on something personal and so Savà was born. Savà was born with the aim of creating only garments of the highest quality, strongly encouraging the manual work of artisans and tailors to give life to timeless collections, which can be worn almost all year round regardless of the trend of the moment. Each Savà garment is produced sartorially with a high attention to the final packaging and to the small details that make a garment unique. The garments are made with strictly deadstock fabrics or from vintage archives that I am lucky enough to have access to, and always and only after a client’s request; this helps me to keep costs down, reduce waste and make each piece unique and precious. I strongly believe that nowadays we need to be aware of what we buy and embrace once and for all the philosophy of ‘buy less but better’.
THE CONCEPT OF YOUR COLLECTION?
My sources of inspiration are many. I can’t really categorise them because I really take inspiration from everything; from an attitude, from the style of a person walking down the street, from art, from architecture, from nature, from the people around me and also from their behaviour.
I like to keep my eyes wide open and observe, always learning something new, I have an almost visceral passion for aesthetics and what the visual aspect can transmit to me.
WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?
Learning to listen and to listen more.
