WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?

My name is Irene Vesentini, I got into photography about ten years ago thanks to an old Olympus from the 80s. For me it was a great gym, I began to understand the value of the shot, time, aperture and iso. So I decided to pursue a three-year photography degree in Brescia, where I then graduated in 2019. Last year I met a group of artists in Milan, called “Young Art Hunters”, of which I am still a member. At the moment I am in Verona and I am attending a master in fashion photography, which I hope will give me the satisfaction I am looking for.

WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

My source of inspiration has several roots. Nature is definitely one of the most recurring themes that I try to bring into each of my photos, either through individual elements such as flowers, or by setting my sets outdoors, so that I can take advantage of the surrounding landscape.

Other sources are the light filtering through windows or foliage at various times of the day, the songs of Florence and The Machine and of course the cinema. The latter is a big world I draw from. I like to see the colour, composition and atmosphere that directors and cinematographers can create and sometimes, I try to recreate that through my photographs in my own style.

WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?

I think you have to make brave choices from time to time on your path. One of mine has definitely been to follow my passion for photography. I hope it will take me somewhere, but just the fact that I believed in it enough to choose it as a path, for me, is already an exceptional thing.
