WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?

My name is Angelo Guttadauro, but I like to be called Guttæ, a name an Italian teacher used to call me, deriving from the Latin translation of my surname (goccia d’oro), similar to my long curly blond hair as a child. I graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 2014, then migrated from one place to another until landing in Florence. My background certainly includes the light and colours of my homeland (Sicily), the customs and traditions I have picked up in the other Italian cities I have lived in, and above all the people around me, as well as the models for almost all my work.

WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

The palettes of nineties films, landscapes where there is no trace of a human being,

music at low and high frequencies, the light emitted by the sun and moon at any time of day, glass jars with water and plants in them and above all people of all types, shapes, sizes and colours.

WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?

Inside the port of Licata (AG) there are silos overlooking the sea with the inscription ‘IF WE WERE TREES WE WOULD HAVE ROOTS’. I, in addition to the historical and cultural importance given the location, have always seen in them the highest expression of freedom, unattainable without lucidity.
