WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?
I am Clizia Moradei, interdisciplinary designer and university researcher in fashion. I live between Florence and Venice, if I’m not on the train you can find me somewhere surrounded by greenery. The different experiences of life and work have indeed allowed me to develop an all-round design aptitude, but they have taught me above all that in order to give birth to a project there is a need to dialogue and do with others. After experimenting independently, in 2016 my passion for contemporary jewellery took shape with the Clizia Jewelry project. The lines exclusively of unique pieces, are born from the mix between innovative material experimentation and goldsmith techniques of the Florentine tradition.
THE CONCEPT OF YOUR LAST COLLECTION?
In a society characterised by an increasingly blurred concept of privacy, interpersonal connections and the emotional sphere appear to be the only refuges capable of preserving a form of intimacy. However, they are increasingly undermined by fragility, due to uncertainty and temporariness, making even these comfort zones vulnerable. Sincrasi is the title of the pair of rings modelled in porcelain-coloured resin. The word comes from ancient Greek and means “mixing, fusion” or “with, together”.
The concept behind the series of images, developed together with photographer Marco Ghilardi, is to rethink the combination of parts in a relational relationship. In a surreal domestic atmosphere, a couple appears that could be friends, lovers, co-workers or even strangers. An apparently calm and diaphanous composition that shows disturbing elements generated by the superimposition of photographic frames. These visual contractions and multiplications of time and space reflect the complex communication between the two figures, generating an effect of estrangement and highlighting their ambiguous complicity. Fragmentation becomes the means to reveal the complexity of a relationship of interdependence: a continuous oscillation between solitude and sharing, of being both individual and plural.
