WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?

Born in Puglia in 1992. I had a beautiful childhood: my mother as a pedagogist followed my personal growth with attention and my father tried to transmit me his cultural and artistic heritage teaching me to observe the world with different eyes and to find beauty in the less common places. My photography passion came at the age of sixteen when I received a camera, before that my aspiration was to become an architect.

When I was eighteen I moved to Milan where I attended the European Institute of Design, followed by four years of work as an assistant at Maria Mulas archive. With a job in hand, I took advantage of this time to try to explore a vision that reflected me and then I start to shoot.

WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

I let myself be impressed by everything trying not to focus on specific things to avoid that the result is just a set of references to which I have not added anything.

We work in a field accessible at a technical level, learning how to take a picture correctly doesn’t require great efforts so I think that, in addition to the image itself, the concept behind it matters significantly: a breast is a breast but in a diptych with an another photo it can assume an another meaning.

In my case I almost always start from space, something inherent to the project and perhaps the first of my sources of inspiration. The other suggestions take over once the characteristics of the location have been traced and them can vary from art to cinema to sectors less connected to photography.

WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?

When you have nothing to say, don’t say anything.

When you don’t know what to do, observe.

When you’re afraid of making a mistake, make a mistake.

When in doubt, total black.
