WHAT’S YOUR BACKGROUND?

I grew up in a small town in Caserta, Teverola, when it had half of its current inhabitants. Over the years, as the city expanded among buildings and paved streets, I witnessed the disappearance of family traditions and customs. Everything that seemed obvious, daily, eternal has disappeared little by little. My photography often speaks of this loss: of the banality of things. I tell what one day will come back to our minds and of which we will have no memory. I photograph the reality that surrounds me to legitimize, honor and thank it. I photograph men lost in their movements, in their environments, in their sacred daily life because every single hint belongs to a wonderful process, the result of a natural mechanism strongly conditioned by previous experiences and meetings.

WHAT ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?

I love to spend my time observing, walking new paths, meeting men and tiptoeing into their world. Cultures, traditions, customs: anything that seems different from me.

Travelling is certainly a tool equal to photography to continue my research. Over the years, however, I have realized that traveling or traveling thousands of miles is not the only way to get rich. After all, you are constantly surrounded by something extremely inspiring. The rule, probably, is to find a new key when everything seems already known.

WHAT ARE YOUR LUCIDITY PILLS?

“Everything I see and touch shatters the memory” is what I was once told by a tremendously free man. In this sentence is enclosed my pill of lucidity. As much as I want to preserve every memory I know it is impossible. Remembering must not hinder never the flow of life.
